Australian floods claim first victim (Video)

Videos shot by locals in Rockhampton show the extent of the crisis being faced in Queensland.

ONE WOMAN HAS died and at least two other people are missing as floodwaters continue to wash through Queensland in Australia, according to the BBC.

In some areas, the waters are beginning to recede, but they are still rising in the city of Rockhampton, which is home to 77,000 people.

More than 200,000 people have already been affected.

The 41-year-old woman was swept away in her car as she was trying to cross the Leichhardt River on a causeway with one other car. Both vehicles were swept away.

Police rescued eight people from the cars, but were unable to reach the woman. Her body was recovered later.
