THE WORDS ‘grand country house’ usually conjure a historic property, in a traditional mould. Avalon, at Kinsale, Co Cork, is nothing of the kind.
Set in a fold of green hills with views out across Kinsale Harbour, this is a striking piece of contemporary architecture which was designed to combine sensitivity to the landscape with eye-catching lines – not to mention a high level of luxury.
