Baby found buried alive in a rooftop garden in Singapore

The baby boy was found in a shallow grave with a bag twisted around his neck.

A MAN TAKING a smoke break on a rooftop garden in Singapore got the shock of his life when he found a newborn baby buried in the soil.

The Straits Times reports that 60-year-old Tay Kim Sia was alerted to the baby boy’s presence when he heard what sounded like a soft mewing. Searching for the source of the noise, he found the tiny infant buried under the soil with a plastic bag twisted around his neck.

The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached when Tay Kim Sia, who was taking a break from a nearby senior centre, found him. He and some friends helped to clean the baby and called the police.

A police spokerson says the baby was taken to hospital and declared to be healthy. Nobody has come forward to claim the child and a police investigation is ongoing.
