Baby's miracle escape from collision with lorry

A seven-month-old baby sustains only minor injuries after her buggy is hit by a truck at Walkinstown in Dublin.

A SEVEN-MONTH-OLD child has escaped with only minor injuries following a road traffic incident involving a lorry at a busy roundabout in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The baby and its mother were walking at the bustling Walkinstown Roundabout near Crumlin at 4pm yesterday when the child’s pram was struck by a passing 18-tonne truck.

Gardaí confirmed that the child had been removed to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin as a precaution, but thankfully the child is not thought to have sustained any major injuries.

The baby’s mother was not injured.

The accident caused major traffic delays in south-west Dublin during the evening rush hour.
