Shots fired at house in Ballyfermot in broad daylight

The incident happened at 10am today.

A MAN HAS been arrested after shots were fired at a house in Ballyfermot this morning.

Gardaí say that three men approached at house on Oranmore Road at about 10am before a number of shots were fired at the property.

One man, who is in his mid-30s, was arrested and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

He is currently being held at the local garda station and investigations are continuing.

Responding to the incident, local councillor Daithí Doolan has called for extra garda resources in the area to tackle the “surge in gun crime”.

“I was shocked to hear of yet another gun attack in Ballyfermot. The gun attack on a house in Oranmore Road put innocent people at risk.

These attacks are dangerously common. It is unacceptable and those involved should stop. I have long called for more Gardaí to be stationed in Ballyfermot to tackle the increase in gun crime.

“Any extra Gardai coming out of Templemore should be front loaded in to Ballyfermot. The Minister for Justice must ensure this happens with immediate effect.”
