Four arrested as PSNI investigate Co Down slashing attacks

The males – aged between 17 and 21 – were arrested after two other young men were slashed on the back and head.

POLICE IN COUNTY DOWN have arrested four people after two young men received slash wounds in a serious assault in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to the Windmill Gardens area of Ballynahinch shortly after 4am, where they found a 21-year-old with two slash wounds to his back and bruising on his body.

A 20-year-old had also received slash wounds to the back of his head, as well as a suspected broken nose and bruising to his face and body.

Both men were take to hospital for treatment for their injuries, which are not thought to be life-treatening.

The four arrested men – aged 21, 20, 19 and 17 – are being held at Downpatrick police station after the incident.

Witnesses have been asked to contact the PSNI at 0845 600 8000 or to contact Crimestoppers.
