4 of a kind: Spacious homes just a stroll from the beach

From a detached home in Galway to a semi-d in Dublin.

THERE’S CERTAINLY SOMETHING about the prospect of fresh sea air every day that makes homes close to the coast highly desirable. For people who love kayaking, sea swimming, windsurfing or anything to do with water in general, a seaside home is probably a non-negotiable.

If you fall into this category of house hunter, then check out these four picks – from Galway to Dublin, all of these homes are minutes away from the shoreline.

Mornington, Co Meath – €680,000

24 Saint Nicholas Village is a large family home that could easily have six bedrooms if needed. Currently with four bedrooms, the house spans 215 m² so the rooms are big and airy and includes a dining room, a sunroom as well as a converted attic space that’s currently two offices. The sunroom has a view of the garden and access to the patio.  There’s also a smaller snug or study that’s on the ground floor, which adds to the versatility of this house.

A bus outside the door to Drogheda and a local shop within walking distance as well as the beach makes this a well-connected family home with lots on its doorstep.

Clontarf, Dublin 3 – €760,000

Warren Point Mews in north Co Dublin is a two-bed end of terrace house that’s just minutes from the coast. Spread over 108 m², it has a south facing courtyard to the front leading to a sunroom, which in turn is connected to the open plan lounge and and dining room. The ground floor also has a fully-fitted kitchen, a guest toilet and a storage room that could be converted into an extra bedroom. Upstairs are two large double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes and two bathrooms.

This well-designed and bright coach house is within walking distance of all that Clontarf has to offer including schools, restaurants, shops and bars.  The area is well serviced by the DART and bus for trips to the city centre while Dublin Airport is about 10 kilometres away.
