Man in camo jacket robs shop with a crossbow

Detectives are appealing for witnesses.

PSNI DETECTIVES IN Belfast are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery of a shop by a man with a crossbow.

The shop on the Newtownards Road close to its junction with Dee Street in East Belfast was robbed early this morning.

It was reported that shortly before 9.10am a man carrying a crossbow entered the shop and threatened members of staff before making off with a sum of money.

He was wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans and trainers. The members of staff were not injured during the incident.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
