Berlusconi presented £200,000 in gifts to teenage dancer

Dancer at the centre of under-age prostitution allegations against Silvio Berlusconi claims she received expensive gifts from the Italian prime minister.

SILVIO BERLUSCONI ALLEGEDLY GAVE gifts totalling over €230,000 to the 18-year-old Moroccan dancer at the centre of allegations he paid for sex with an underage prostitute.

Karima el-Mahroug, aka Ruby Heartstealer, was 17 when she was allegedly paid by the Italian premier for sex.

Now she has reportedly told Italian investigators that Berlusconi gave her a €15,000 diamond necklace, the Telegraph reports.

Allegedly, Berlusconi gave some 24 gifts to El-Mahroug in total, ranging from a €50,000 Rolex watch to an €18,000 fur stole. She also claims he gave her a present of a brooch to help cover up her low neckline.

El-Mahroug is expected to be the special guest of a Viennese building magnate at Vienna’s Opera Ball this year, according to Reuters. His previous guests have included Dita von Teese and Paris Hilton.

Berlusconi is to face trial in April on charges of paying for sex with a 17-year-old girl and for trying to cover it up. He denies the charges, although he has admitted inquiring about the girl’s police detention. He denies his interest in her detention was an abuse of power, and claims he was concerned about a young girl who was alone.

Thousands of women held protests in Italian cities a week ago to defend the dignity of Italian women and to protest Berlusconi’s continued leadership amid the sex scandal.
