Looking glass: 6 mirrors that'll take your bathroom from 'meh' to magnificent

Take some time to reflect with an easy and effective update.

WHILE SOME MIRRORS can often get away with being more decorative than actually doing their job, that’s not the case in the bathroom.. From preparing for the day to often accommodating two nighttime routines, bathroom mirrors certainly aren’t just for show.

This week, we’ve searched high and low for a collection of perfect bathroom mirrors that marry form and function perfectly.

1. Tall orders: Oblong mirrors are ideal if wall space is at a premium. Here, @corbettlighting shows us one that sits neatly beside the window in this beautiful and bright bathroom.

Its thin frame means it doesn’t take away from the wallpaper design, yet the large size makes it a real feature. Check out the Angui mirror from Nordic Nest for something similar.

2. Wide berths: If you can’t go long, then go wide. @jstam ties in the silver finishes in this bathroom and let’s this large bathroom mirror take centre stage. Steps to the sink make it easy for the little ones to reach, while the space is kept clean-lined and clutter free. Find silver finished mirrors that will let you see it all at EZ Living Furniture.

3. Double vision: If you have the luxury of two sinks, then adding symmetry will create the perfect balance of style and function in the bathroom. Here, @thatssoerin.w goes for gold and ensures two people can go about their routines in peace. Double up these Woo Design Loop brass mirrors to get the look.

4. Form fittings: Match your brassware and cabinet handles with your mirrors and focus on the details. @tamararenedesigns_inc does the finishes in this space justice by setting them against a rich blue and crisp white backdrop. Again, symmetry is key here and is even extended to the light fixtures above each vanity unit, and the towel hooks on the wall. Find similar geometric mirrors at Lisa Angel.

5. Shelve it: If you’re a fan of switching things up on a regular basis then no doubt you’ll want decor additions that mean a little less commitment. We love how @pikeproperties has installed a shelf below these bathroom mirrors, which avoids drilling into the pristine tiling behind. Look at rectangular framed pieces like this one from Amara, for perfect balance and no toppling mirror mishaps.

6. Frame-up: A sunburst mirror might look a little odd in the bathroom but here’s the next best thing if you need to see as much of yourself as possible. This delicately framed piece, displayed here by @st_b_hive, proves your style doesn’t need to be left at the door.
