Thanks to this photo, the world has just discovered what black puddings are

And they’re fascinated.

DELICIOUS PHOTOS OF the humble full Irish breakfast often get really popular on the internet. And why wouldn’t they? The world is nearly always intrigued.

And it happened again yesterday when this photo was uploaded to Imgur and viewed over half a million times.

As more people questioned what a black pudding is, it turned out that some North Americans did indeed have access to them – under the slightly less appetising name ‘blood sausage’:

You can usually find it in the US/NA if you go to a good butcher and ask for blood sausage. I get it when I can up here in Montreal and I assume it goes by the same moniker in the US.

But most people saw it and were all like “WHAT is that?”

And an actual stab at a true definition was put forward as well:

As far as I understand it’s usually made of “pig’s blood with oatmeal, pork fat, onions and plenty of spices and seasonings”.

Everyone is welcome over to Ireland to try out the black pudding for themselves. It is indeed an experience.
