Shots fired during attempted post office robbery in Dublin

A passerby was injured after attempting to stop the assailant.

SHOTS WERE FIRED during an attempted armed robbery in Blackrock, Dublin, earlier today.

A search is now underway for the assailant, who gardaí say entered a post office near Woodbine Park at around 2.30pm, armed with a firearm.

After threatening staff and firing shots, he fled the scene empty handed. A member of the public attempted to stop him, and received minor injuries in the struggle.

There were no other injuries.
