The spectacular BMW M4 CS could be the best M4 coupe yet

The BMW M4 CS is powered by a twin-turbo straight-six producing 460hp.

THE BOFFINS IN BMW’s M Division have created a new version of one of its most popular models, called the M4 CS.

This is essentially a BMW M4 with some more aggressive styling and a few more turns of the performance dial to create an even more focused driver’s car. It isn’t quite as extreme as the super-rare M4 GTS that was sold in very limited numbers, but it does feature some of the parts that debuted on that model.

In the engine department, the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six gets a power boost to 460hp and 600Nm. That’s good enough to ensure a 0-100km/h time of just 3.9 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 280km/h.

To save additional weight, the front splitter, bonnet and rear wing are all made from carbon fibre. Other cool features include black alloy wheels – 19-inch on the front and 20-inch on the rear. The rear lights use Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology to give the car a more unique look. These first featured on the M4 GTS.

Further weight has been shaved from the interior, where the sports seats have been lightened and Alcantara replaces leather on many of the surfaces. The door cards are made from compacted natural fibres and rather than door handles you get small fabric loops to pull the door closed. And yes, they’re made in the BMW M’s tricolour.

Like the saying goes, less is more. In this case that more relates to the price, which will start at €158,690.

But the even better news for BMW fans is that the company intends to develop CS versions of its other M cars in the future.
