Actor Bob Hoskins has died aged 71

Hoskins will be remembered as the star of The Long Good Friday, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Brazil.

BRITISH ACTOR BOB Hoskins has died aged 71.

The news was confirmed by the much-loved actor’s agent today, who confirmed the cause of death as pneumonia.

He appeared in a number of films over a 40-year career, receiving an Oscar nomination in 1986 for his work in Mona Lisa. He won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for the film.

In a statement to Sky News, his wife Linda and children said they were “devastated”.

“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob.

“Bob died peacefully at hospital last night surrounded by family, following a bout of pneumonia.

“We ask that you respect our privacy during this time and thank you for your messages of love and support.”

He will be best remembered for his roles in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mermaids and The Long Good Friday.

He had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease late in his life and retired from acting in 2012.
