Man's body found by Garda divers in Grand Canal

The man has not been identified. It is believed he died as a result of drowning.

THE BODY OF a man has been found in the Grand Canal, close to Harcourt Terrace in Dublin city centre.

The discovery was made by Garda divers carrying out a search for a missing man.

“The search of the canal was carried out by Garda Water Unit who located the body of the man at about 12.30pm,” a statement said.

The area is sealed off pending a technical examination.

The man has not been identified as yet, said gardaí. It is believed he died as a result of drowning.

The man’s body has been removed to the City Morgue where a post-mortem examination will take place tomorrow.
