GARDAÍ IN LIMERICK City were called to an area near the river Shannon this morning to investigate the discovery of a body.

Initial reports suggested the body was that of a 16-year-old girl but it later transpired the woman is in her 40s. The services of the State Pathologist have been requested.

A scene at New Road, Thomondgate was sealed off after the discovery was made by a man walking his dog in the Kileely area.
