Two arrested after bomb-making equipment found in Kildare

Items associated with the manufacture of pipe bombs were found in a house in Newbridge yesterday evening.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after Gardaí discovered bomb-making equipment in a house in Co Kildare.

The items, which Gardaí said were associated with the manufacture of pipe bombs, was found in a house in Newbridge yesterday evening.

The search was carried out as part of investigations into dissident republican activity.

Two men, aged 45 and 39, were arrested and are being detained at Garda stations in Naas and Newbridge under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

The search was carried out by Gardaí from the Special Detective Unit, assisted by local and national units.
