Bomb squad called to deal with viable device in Tallaght

The device was found by a sanitation worker near Tymon Park, which was sealed off for some time.

AN ARMY BOMB disposal unit has been called to Tallaght to deal with a viable explosive device.

The device was found by a sanitation worker in the Tymon Park area at around 3pm this afternoon.

The area was cordoned off and traffic restrictions put in place.

The device was removed to a safe military location for technical assessment and a controlled explosion was not needed.

The area was declared safe at around 4pm.

The component parts of the device have been handed over to Gardaí to aid them in their investigations.
