Boy, 12, dies after scramble motorbike fall

A young boy has died following a fall from a scramble motorbike in north Belfast.

A BOY HAS DIED following a fall from a scrambler motorbike in north Belfast last night.

The 12-year-old was injured at around 9.15pm in the Mountcollyer area of Ballysillan. He has been named as Daniel Mooney from north Belfast.

After the accident he was taken to hospital but later died there, the BBC reports.

It is believed that the boy was being carried as a passenger one of two bikes being driven in the area, the Irish Times reports. Police are appealing for witnesses and are especially keen to speak to the young people who were driving the scramblers and their parents.
