Residents allowed return to their homes as Bray Head fire under control

The fire broke out in front of a tent on Bray Head.

A FIRE ON Bray Head continues to burn, but residents have been allowed to return home.

Firefighters remained on scene overnight after the gorse fire burned all of yesterday, forcing evacuations.

The Irish Air Corps was called in to help efforts to put the fire out, though this was interfered with by people using drones in the area.

This morning, Wicklow Fire Service tweeted:

“Air Corp operations on Bray Head ended at 10 pm, offensive firefighting ended at midnight. Defensive firefighting continued through the night. Current outbreak is under control, damping of areas will continue through the day.”

That damping effort will again be supported by the Air Corps.

The fire broke out in front of a tent on Bray Head early yesterday and debris and flames from it disrupted Dart services.
