"If there's a stone that we can turn..." - Daughter's appeal for mum (72) missing since Saturday

Breda Delaney was very anxious and distressed before she went missing.

THE DAUGHTER OF missing woman Breda Delaney says she has been calling out her mother’s name as she searches for her.

The 72-year-old has been missing from Blackrock, Dublin since Saturday July 11.

Emer told Liveline on RTÉ Radio 1 this afternoon, “We’re doing everything we can think of really. I’m looking anywhere that I think she might have gone.

“We’ve been checking churches, the grounds of hospitals, basically anywhere we can think of, any wooded areas as well.

“If there’s a stone that we can turn, then we have to turn it.

It’s very hard keeping all the possibilities at once in mind and still trying to follow the one that’s most hopeful and most useful.

Emer said she was out on Bray head yesterday: “There are so many possibilities even along there. I went off the beaten track as much as I could anywhere that I could see but there’s almost infinite possibilities really.”

Emer explained that her mother was very anxious and distressed before she went missing. Breda was last seen at her home at Avondale Court as around 3:30am.

Emer added, “We really need to pin down where she went at first on Saturday, what direction she went and what she was doing.”

Breda is described as:

  • 5′ 4″ in height of slight build
  • Blonde/grey hair
  • Blue eyes

When last seen she was wearing:

  • A white cardigan,
  • A calf length skirt
  • Black shoes

Emer added that her mother would probably be wearing gloves and that she has a little mark over her left eyebrow.

“She’s small and very slight. She’s has hair that’s really really blond, it’s almost white.

If people could approach very very gently, she would be very anxious and nervous at this stage.

A Facebook page Help Find Breda Delaney has been set up and the hashtag #FindBreda is being used on Twitter.

Asked what is keeping her going Emer said, “A little bit of hope and the fact that everyone has been so wonderful.

“People from every stage of my life and Mum’s life and Dad’s life have come out of the woodwork and offered to do whatever they can and have been just incredible.

“There’s so much love and goodwill for Mum and for us.”
