IT MIGHT BE the greatest understatement of the 21st century - but Brexit is just a mess.
Deal or no deal. Hard border or soft border. “Taking back control” – blue passports – immigration control. The rise of the British far-right – the House of Commons rows, the votes – the speeches – the statements and the seemingly never-ending cluster of chaos.
But on March 29 (61 days from now) – the British are supposed to be gone. But will they really go?
So this morning we want to know: What do you think will happen on Brexit day?
Poll Results:
Delayed Brexit (7079)
No deal Brexit (3989)
Brexit with a deal (1514)
I don't care (1032)

@Damo.f: Hope Leo is the pilot, Coveney the co pilot… That would leave the deputy leader of the blueshirts Michael Martin in charge. He loves Westminster so much he will demand that his old party F.F. be given seats in Westminster.
@BaaB: Create a propaganda network in the UK, attempt to remove the family as the center of society, divide men from woman by telling woman they are victims, encourage mass immigration until tribalism takes hold, remove the peoples power slowly by encouraging a hatred of Nations and so their peoples assembly, send in the Corporations to take over, Chem-trails, France.
@Colonel Grant: we could sneakily borrow a few of the big white ones from the UN. We’ll just let on that it’s for a training weekend in the Curragh. :-)
@Jayo Breathneach: Why is it you anti EU crowd love flogging a dead horse. It wasn’t the EU that made, what was private banking debts, Sovereign Government debt, our own Government did that.
And at the time the EU told the Irish Government that what they had done was crazy. That if the Irish Government had asked the EU for advise before doing anything they would been advised to just guarantee the 2 main high street banks and let the rest fail or not as the case may be. But because the Irish Government had “Fully” guaranteed “every” banks debt they were then obliged to cover “All” debts owed (including non secured bond holders). So blaming the EU for something they did not cause is flogging a dead horse.
@Willy Mc Caul: we borrowed beyond our means, caused the collapse, offered the bank an incredibly shit deal (shit for us, they did great out of it). What was the EU supposed to do; override our sovereignty and tell us we couldn’t offer that deal? The Irish government screwed you over, and probably will again.
There are a million legitimate criticisms of the EU but that isn’t one of them.
@Juan Fangio: not to the level of the FF cronies/developers. Hundreds of millions borrowed to a few people.A few hundred people should have gotten life sentences for what happened ,this would have acted as a deterrent to the same thing happening again. PCP ticking clock.
The currency boys are usually right, sterling against the Euro has strengthened from 1.10 to 1.16 in the past week, albeit from a weak base. They are leaning towards a deal.
They have no option but to leave, it would be embrassing if they go back to the people again. What happens then if they get a vote to leave again. Just get on with it and leave, they will be fine it is us i would be worried about. The north has had a hard border before and can again it is not the end of the world.
@Robert Deane: fine you say? Have you got Alzheimer’s or something? You’re memory seems to be deficient
If they set up borders they will need a security force to protect it. This gives a target to dissidents. Things will get blown up and people will be killed.
The Brits are getting desperate they have decided to play a game of chicken with the EU to see who’s going to swerve first.when it comes to the crunch they will delay brexit and probably another referendum be called
How about a United Ireland and Scotland with capital in Belfast.
Spoke with some Unionist friends up north who would be on for it. Might take a while to organise, but not as long as this Brexit carry-on!!!!
There’ll be a compromise, Leo will be given a knighthood (the one that’ll get stripped off Bob Geldof), he’ll then run for UKIP, Teresa May will be given the freedom of Dublin and Michael O’Leary will head FF and be nominated as Taoiseach. Mary Lou will emigrate to Venezuela and open an Irish pub in Caracas.
@Trevor Hayden: what violence? the only one talking about violence is our own stupid govt with varuca trying to make a name for himself with his stupid comments the other day….
@Peter donnelly: The violence we remember during the 70s and 80s, if British troops start manning the border or if there is any structure erected we’ll be back to the violence of then.
I think initially, there will be total confusion everywhere. The UK will sort themselves out fairly rapidly. The rest of the EU will sort out their UK borders, and because we have no political leadership in Ireland, we will stumble into a default arrangement. And then when things have settled down, our clueless political idiots will be going around telling everybody they’re great lads altogether for sorting out brexit while everthing Irish and everybody Irish gets checked at EU borders.
@Dave Harris: the UK problem is in agreing a deal with the EU. When and if a no deal brexit happens, they will know what to do. Meanwhile with our incompetent idiots, it will be a nightmare and they’ll just start blaming brexit for everything.
And we’ll then see our incompetent gombeen career politicians, how far will their county council level experience will get them, i suspect not very far because their record on managing anything so far, on their own, is horrendous.
It’s the year after that will reveal all. I’d say both Irish and English governments will be out due to a total lack of belief in their ability to govern. Then it will be head scratching with another year of uncertainty eventually leading to a new government. Lots of chaos in the wind. Can’t believe some people are advocating a united Ireland in all of this.
Real wrath-of-God-type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming from the sky! Rivers and seas boiling!
Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes! Volcanoes!
The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!
@deise: I’m not the EU ..i’m not European… I’m Irish… The big plans for the eu were formed in Germany cira1940. I’ll try posting a link to the document.
Leo will decide we need troops on the border. It’ll cost a couple billion euro, and shortly after everybody’ll start wondering where’s all the money going as nobody will see any of it.
@Pip: Wee difference, Y2K was a marketing ploy, people updated equipment for little reason. Brexit is basically the rebuilding of the Berlin Wall off the coast of Mainland Europe. Most Europeans don’t know the difference between us and the UK and will happily carry on without us.
