British soldier proposes in call from Afghanistan...to the wrong woman

Now the whole world is desperately seeking Samantha and her lovestruck soldier boyfriend.

A BRITISH SOLDIER serving in Afghanistan made one of his monthly calls home earlier this week, and decided to propose to his pregnant girlfriend, Samantha. So far, so sweet.

Trouble is, he dialled the wrong number.

Forty four-year-old Diane Potts, who got the message instead, told the Daily Telegraph: “I just thought: ‘bless him.’ He sounded so young.”

Now the Telegraph has launched a hunt to find him.

His heartfelt, 90 second message, reveals that his girlfriend’s name is Samatha; that she’s expecting their baby, and that he recently lost a comrade in a roadside bomb.

Speaking into the answering machine, the soldier says:

Hi baby it’s me, I’m sorry I couldn’t call you last month, but you know what it’s like out here…

Don’t ever forget I love you, I love you so much, I love you with all my heart and I was going to ask you, don’t answer, obviously you can’t answer, but will you marry me?

I can’t wait until you give birth to my baby, my little soldier. I will do everything in my heart and I will try my hardest to fight to protect you…
