Best in brunch: Banish the January blues at Roberta's

Absolut Brunch Club in Roberta’s is teaming up with Haus of W.I.G. to start the new year in style.

CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING it to the end of January!

Now is the perfect time to reward yourself for surviving the grimmest month and we’re here to provide you with just the thing to chase the January blues away.

Absolut Brunch Club at Roberta’s is back to kick off 2023 in style, with the first iteration of the year taking place on Saturday January 28th. Providing the entertainment on the big day will be drag superstars Haus of W.I.G.

The brunch will take place in the gorgeous surrounds of Roberta’s on Essex Street in Temple Bar. Running from 12.30pm to 4pm, attendees should expect some wild shenanigans, hearty food, and sumptuous drinks.

Located in the heart of Dublin, Roberta’s is the perfect venue for cutting loose at a boozy brunch. General manager Ciaran believes that the restaurant is a fantastic space for the brunch.

“The venue lends itself very well for events like this, it’s a big beautiful city-centre space. It’s a first-floor restaurant, kind of an atrium bar-restaurant, with a big capacity,” said Ciaran.

Overall it’s a really, really, cool New York kind of place,” he added.

Ciaran is relishing the brunch, especially the visit from the Haus of W.I.G. queens: “We’re so excited to be kicking off our 2023 series of Absolut Brunch events in Roberta’s. Our first Absolut drag brunch was a massive sold out success. In all the years I’ve been in Roberta’s I’ve never seen that kind of atmosphere so we couldn’t wait to get the Haus of W.I.G back to do it all again.”

On the day, come prepared for a dizzying afternoon of spectacular drag performances, games, challenges, prizes, and plenty of audience participation thanks to the three fabulous drag queens from Haus of W.I.G. As always, they will be sure to have you out of your chair dancing to the best feel-good tunes and cheesy pop hits.

Haus of W.I.G. are returning to Roberta’s, having performed there for the Absolut Brunch Club in October. Consisting of three amazing performers, the queens have brought their jaw-dropping talents to venues across Dublin for the last four years, and even hosted Ireland’s first virtual drag ball during the pandemic.

Returning to Roberta’s, Stephen from Haus of W.I.G., was excited to get back there with some fresh ideas around their performance: “It’ll be pretty similar to the last brunch in October but we’ve rejigged it a little bit to be more fun, more interactive.”

“It’s a really big space and we want to make sure we take advantage of it and use it as much as possible,” he added.

Stephen didn’t want to give too much away about the Haus of W.I.G. presence at the brunch, but anyone who has seen them before can testify to the astonishing performance they deliver.

There’ll be three of us there so it will be myself Naomi Diamond, Shaqira Knightly, and Donna Fella, so the three of us make up Haus of W.I.G. We’ll be doing some group performances, some duet performances, and solo performances as well,” said Stephen.

“We want it to feel like a big party, for people to forget that they’re there for brunch and we want it to be interactive and fun,” Stephen added.

“The girls from Haus of W.I.G put on such a fantastic, hilarious and high energy show,” said Ciaran. “You can expect fun and games, spot prizes and plenty of singing and dancing.” In summary, the three queens know how to throw a party and will take all brunch attendees along for the ride.

As for the drinks, Absolut Vodka will be serving up the sumptuous beverages for the afternoon, with a mixture of brunch specific treats and classics on offer. Early afternoon favourites such as Espresso Martinis and Bloody Marys will be on the menu, joining staples like the Pornstar Martini.

“Our special Absolut cocktails are being developed as we speak and are guaranteed to be crowd pleasers,” said Ciaran.

Tickets are priced at €40 per person and include one brunch dish and three cocktails. All tickets need to be purchased for a table, with a maximum of 6 people per table.
