Scottish police investigate viral clip of teenage girl being hit and kicked

A 15-year-old girl has been charged.

POLICE IN SCOTLAND say they are investigating mobile phone footage showing a teenage girl hitting and kicking another girl.

The clip has been shared multiple times on Facebook and other social media sites.

It shows the teenage girl telling her target “I’ll drag you” as other teenagers look on.

Chants of “fight, fight, fight” can be heard at one stage, and a girl asks “are you not going to fight back?”.

The young girl is also dragged by her hair.

Police Scotland confirmed to The Scotsman that an inquiry had been launched and that a 15-year-old girl had been charged.

“Police in Fife have charged a 15-year-old girl in connection with an assault in the Cowdenbeath area,” a statement said.

“The incident was reported to police on Sunday, August 16.

“A report will be submitted to the Children’s Reporter.”

BBC Scotland reports that the video may have been shared as many as five million times.
