4 of a kind: Spacious dormer bungalows across the country

A collection of homes that make the most of their space inside.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING for a new home that makes the most of its floor space and is easily accessible for those who don’t fancy taking too many stairs, then look no further than a dormer bungalow. These one and half storey houses usually have a few bedrooms on the ground floor as well as the first to ensure a well laid-out and easy to navigate home for family members of all ages.

This week, we’ve found four that fit the bill perfectly.

Edgeworthstown, Co Longford – €350,000

It would be hard to miss the 16 solar panels on the roof of this five-bed dormer in Longford. They provide power, excess electricity and hot water to the house while sending electricity to the grid. On average, you could expect to be 70% self sufficient across the year. The house is ready to walk into and comprises a hall that leads to a large living room, and open plan kitchen and dining room and a utility room that has access to the garage.

Of the five bedrooms, three live downstairs with the main bedroom enjoying and en suite and the two bedrooms on the ground floor sharing a family bathroom. The two bedrooms upstairs have their own bathrooms. Edgeworthstown train station which serves the Dublin to Sligo line is close by. The towns of Longford and Mullingar are only a 15 minute drive away.
