Has your home been burgled?

Tell us about it.

NEW LEGISLATION TO punish repeat burglars is to be introduced by Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald.

The minister will also look to enable more widespread concurrent sentencing.

There is some thought that burglary has been treated too lightly by the legal system and offenders are allowed rack up multiple convictions before they are heavily sentenced.

Legal sources say that this is because burglary isn’t necessarily a crime against the person.

But victims disagree, those who live in the 26,000 homes burgled last year will believe  it was a crime on them, whether they were home or not.

What do you think of the new legislation? Has your home been burgled? Tell us about it in the comments.
