Four people assaulted during aggravated burglary in Cork city

Two people are in hospital after the attack in the early hours of this morning.

FOUR PEOPLE HAVE been injured in an aggravated burglary at a house in Cork in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí are investigating after three men armed with implements entered the house off Blarney Street between 2.35am and 3am.

The men assaulted two men and two women, all in their mid 20s, before fleeing the scene. Two of the men were caught shortly afterwards by Gardaí and are being held at Gurranbraher Garda station. The third man escaped on foot.

Two of the victims are being treated at Cork University Hospital for injuries sustained in the attack. Their condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí have asked anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around Monastery Avenue off Blarney Street contact them at Gurranabraher Garda station on 021 4946200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
