Thieves steal elderly woman's medicine in 2am home raid

The men – aged in their late teens or early 20s – forced her around the house as they searched it.

POLICE IN DOWNPATRICK are investigating a home raid in the Roughal Park area of the Co Down town overnight in which an elderly woman’s medication was stolen.

It happened at around 1.45am.

According to officers, the woman – aged in her 80s – was awoken by a noise and discovered two burglars in her home.

The raiders – men aged in their late teens or early 20s – forced her around the house as they searched it, before making off with the medication and a watch.

According to the PSNI:

“One of the burglars is described as between 5’ 6” – 5’ 8” tall, of a slim/medium build with slight dark growth around his face. He was wearing a white coloured anorak with the hood pulled up and dark blue track bottoms possibly with a red stripe on the leg.
“The second was also between 5’6” – 5 8” tall, of small build, wearing a dark coloured anorak with the hood pulled up and dark bottoms.”

The woman was not injured.

Detective Constable Megaw from Downpatrick Reactive and Organised Crime said detectives were keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information.

They are especially keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured pick-up truck, possibly used by the burglars, in the area.
