Bus Éireann technical glitch leaves families waiting for yearly tickets

Thousands of families are still waiting while some schools start this week.

TENS OF THOUSANDS of Irish families are still awaiting annual school bus tickets worth up to €650, despite many secondary schools opening back up after the holidays this week.

Some parents who sent in payment (or medical card details) by the 1 August deadline will be issued temporary tickets while they await their full yearly transport tickets, which cost €100 for primarily pupils, €350 for secondary students, and €650 for a family.

Bus Éireann said that proof of payment would also be accepted on buses for the first few days of the school year (up until this Friday).

In a statement, the company said new software being used to register tickets online was experiencing problems and causing delays in tickets being issued.

This new software requires compatible browsers and we ask customers to use Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Internet Explore Version 9 or higher…
There are some issues with the site, which we have identified as being related to the type of browser used.

Bus Éireann has set up a temporary helpline for parents experiencing technical glitches with school transport payments.

They are invited to call 1800-945-945 between the hours of 9 am and 8 pm this week.
