Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore spoke to the media as they arrived at government buildings this morning to discuss the expert group on abortion’s final report.

TAOISEACH ENDA KENNY and Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore spoke to the media as they arrived at government buildings in Dublin this morning for a crucial Cabinet meeting.

Thought the Budget is just over a week away, it is another issue which is likely to be dominating the agenda of today’s Cabinet meeting with Health Minister James Reilly bringing the expert group on abortion’s report to ministers for their consideration.

Speaking to the media as he made his way into government buildings, Kenny said of the abortion issue: “This is a matter that requires careful, calm, considered and sympathetic consideration. I’d like to think that everybody in the Oireachtas will have the opportunity to have their say.”

According to Newstalk, he said that the issue of dealing with the expert group’s report and its recommendations will be done “as quickly and as comprehensively, when it is practicable to do so.”

“Don’t ask me for a specific date but it’s not going to be left hanging around there,” the Taoiseach added saying that “we all recognise the requirement for legal certainty” surrounding the abortion issues.
