Two dead after massive fire at Cameron House Hotel

More than 200 guests have been evacuated.

TWO GUESTS AT Cameron House Hotel have died after a fire broke out at the five-star hotel, located on the banks of Scotland’s Loch Lomond.

Sky News reports that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another person died in hospital. Three others have been taken to the Queen University Hospital for treatment.

Argyll & West Dunbartonshire Police Division said that at 6.50am they were alerted to a report of a fire at the hotel building, which dates back to the 18th century.

The hotel’s 200 guests were evacuated.

Police said that “extensive damage” has been done, and that officers are on scene to establish “the exact circumstances of the incident”.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon thanked the brave firefighters and emergency services, and sent her condolences to the families of those affected by the “dreadful news”.
