Candidate removed from Mayo count centre after approaching Enda Kenny

Stephen Manning was removed from the building after an exchange with security.

A CANDIDATE IN Mayo was removed from the count centre in Castlebar after he approached Enda Kenny.

The Fine Gael leader and his wife Fionnuala were speaking to supporters tonight when Manning, who is a member of Integrity Ireland, approached him.

Security stepped in and, after a heated exchange, Manning was removed from the building.

Speaking to reporters outside after the incident, the independent candidate said he “never intended it to be a stunt”, and wanted to speak to Kenny about death threats that have been sent to his family.
