A ‘SOPHISTICATED’ CANNABIS growhouse has been discovered in Tuam.

Gardaí say they seized drugs and arrested a male following a search of a house by the Galway Drug Unit.

The planned search of a house in the Dangan area of Tuam, Co Galway last night uncovered cannabis herb and cannabis plants.

It is believed they have a combined estimated street value of up to €100,000.

Along with these items found in the growhouse, other drug paraphernalia and an outboard boat engine were also seized.

In a follow-up operation yesterday evening, a male in his 30’s was arrested in the Tuam area.

He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Galway garda station.
