AN ESTIMATED €840,000 worth of cannabis was seized this morning after a suspect package was identified by a Revenue sniffer dog.

The cannabis was destined for an address in North Dublin, and came from West Africa.

Stella the dog gave a positive reaction to the parcel, labelled ‘food and spices’, at the Portlaoise Mail Centre.

Investigations are on-going.

Stella is particularly adept at spotting these mislabelled parcels.

Just a few weeks ago, she came across 15kgs of herbal cannabis with a street value of €300,000 at the same mail centre.

This consignment was also heading to north Dublin from West Africa.
