The man has since been released by gardaí following the seizure yesterday.

NEARLY FOUR KILOGRAMMES of herbal cannabis was seized and a Polish man arrested at Rosslare Port yesterday.

Officers from Revenue Customs Service seized 3.7 kilogrammes of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €45,000.

The drug was concealed in drums of paint in a van that was stopped and searched after it passed through the Customs X Ray scanner as it disembarked from a ferry that had arrived at Rosslare Europort from France.

The Revenue says the seizure was part of routine profiling. A Polish man in his 30s was arrested and questioned at Wexford Garda station.

He has since been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
