REVENUE OFFICERS AT Dublin Airport have seized 25 kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €500,000.

The search was the result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Jack, a Revenue spokesperson said.

The cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages inside the baggage of a passenger who had travelled on a flight from Thailand.

A male in his 30s was arrested by gardaí and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda Station in Dublin.

Investigations are ongoing, Revenue said.

Today’s seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs, the agency’s spokesperson said.
