Cannabis worth €240,000 seized in Cork, man in his 20s arrested

A search of a residential premises in the Mahon area was conducted by gardaí yesterday.

CANNABIS WITH AN estimated street value of €240,000 was seized by gardaí in Cork city yesterday evening.

A search of a residential premises in the Mahon area was conducted by gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit on Anglesea Street.

During the course of this search, approximately 12kg of cannabis was recovered.

A man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested and is currently being detained at a garda station in Cork city under the provisions of section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The drugs seized will be sent for forensic analysis.

The search was carried out as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in Cork city.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
