50-year-old woman among three arrested after €2.8 million worth of cannabis seized in Cavan

THREE PEOPLE ARE being detained after a drugs seizure in Cavan.

The €2.8 million haul came yesterday in a joint operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue’s Customs Service. The focus of the operation was to target individuals involved in drug trafficking and the sale and supply of illicit Drugs.

As a result, around 143 Kilos of herbal cannabis (subject to analysis) was seized. This material has an estimated value of €2.8 million.

A 36-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were arrested and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 2006 at Ballyconnell Garda Station.

In a follow up Operation a 46-year-old man was also arrested and is being detained in Cavan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 2006 in relation to the same offence.
