Cannabis worth €1 million seized at Dublin Port

The drugs were hidden in a consignment of chocolate and sweets from Holland.

NINETY-ONE KILOS of herbal cannabis have been found hidden in a shipment of chocolate and sweets at Dublin Port.

One man in his late twenties has been arrested and is being held at Ballymun Garda Station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Acts. He can be held for up to seven days.

The consignment had arrived at Dublin Port from the Netherlands. Customs officers and the Garda National Drugs Unit carried out the seizure as part of a joint operation.

The drugs have an estimated street value of €1 million.
