Cannabis worth €500,000 seized from truck

Gardaí made the find after stopping the lorry in Monaghan.

A MAN HAS been arrested after gardaí stopped a truck carrying as much as half a million euro of cannabis in Monaghan last night.

The lorry was stopped and searched at Lismeenan, Castleshane on Saturday evening at around 6pm.

A large amount of herbal cannabis with a potential street value of €500,000 was seized, though the amount is subject to verification by further analysis.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He is currently being held at Monaghan garda station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
