Two arrested after teen dies in car crash

John Paul McShane (19) died following a crash on the Upper Springfield Road in West Belfast.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested following the death of a teenager in a car crash in Northern Ireland.

Police have confirmed that two men aged 20 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences and are currently in custody.

19-year-old John Paul McShane died following a collision on the Upper Springfield Road in West Belfast this morning.

McShane, who lived locally, was travelling in a red Peugeot 406 estate car when the accident occurred shortly after 8 am.

The Upper Springfield Road was closed following the incident, but has since re-opened.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the Upper Springfield Road around the time to contact them at the Collision Investigation Unit in Steeple Police Station by calling the non-emergency number 101.
