Gardaí appeal for witnesses after man dies in car crash

A 39-year-old man died when the car he was driving collided with a pole.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a single-vehicle collision in Co Meath in which a man died this morning.

A 39-year-old man died when the car he was driving collided with a pole.

The incident occurred on the R157 Maynooth to Dunboyne Road at about 9am.

This stretch of road, near Dunboyne, was closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision investigators and has since reopened.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Ashbourne Garda Station on 01 801 0600, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
