Man in his early 20s dies after car hits ditch in Limerick

The driver of the car, a woman in her early 20s, received minor injuries.

A MAN IN his early 20s has died after the car he was a passenger in left the road and struck a ditch in Co Limerick this morning.

Gardaí are investigating the single-vehicle crash, which occurred on the R511 Fedamore to Limerick Road shortly after 2am.

The man was pronounced dead at scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem is to be arranged.

The driver of the car, a woman in her early 20s, received minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Limerick. No other injuries were reported.

The road is currently closed to facilitate garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information, particularly those who travelled the R511 close to Fedamore between 1am and 2.20am today, is asked to contact them at Roxboro Road Garda station on 061 214340, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
