Man dies after collision between truck and car on M1

It’s the second fatal crash on the motorway in 24 hours.

A MAN HAS died following a collision between a truck and a car on the M1 early this morning.

The incident happened on the M1 northbound, between junctions 13 and 14, at about 1.30am. The collision involved a car and an articulated truck.

The male driver of the car, aged in his late 30s, was seriously injured and removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The male driver of the truck, aged in his mid-60s, was uninjured.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators at currently at scene, a section of the road is closed and local diversions are in place.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dunleer Garda Station 041 685 1202, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
