Cardinal Sean Brady invited to wedding of William and Kate

The Catholic primate has received an “unprecedented” invitation to attend the British royal wedding this April.

HE MAY NOT actually be in the market for a new hat, but Cardinal Sean Brady certainly has an excuse to polish his brogues.

The Catholic primate has been invited to the 29 April wedding of Britain’s Prince William and Kate Middleton, where he’ll share the pew with the likes of British Prime Minister David Cameron, the UK’s Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks and, um… David and Victoria Beckham.

The invitation, which has been described as “unprecedented”, has been attributed to Brady’s work in the peace process and attempts to foster understanding between Catholics and Protestants.

The invitation is also good news for TheJournal.ie – as we may just have landed our own royal correspondent. Sort of.

Those of us not lucky enough to receive a gilt-edged call-up can watch the wedding live on YouTube on 29 April.
