Man arrested over Carlow doorstep shooting

The man in his 40s was detained this evening in Carlow Town.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with the shooting of a man in Carlow in the early hours of this morning.

The man in his early 40s was arrested by Gardaí during the search of a house in Carlow Town this evening.

A 25-year-old man was shot a number of times on his doorstep at around 2.25am this morning when he answered a knock to his front door on Burrin Road.

He received injuries to his knee and stomach and was taken to St Lukes Hospital in Kilkenny. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The arrested man is being detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Carlow Garda station.

The investigation is ongoing, Gardaí added.
