Three men arrested after this bag of drugs was seized in Carlow

The three men are Lithuanian nationals.

THREE MEN REMAIN in custody after a drug seizure in Carlow.

At 8pm last night gardaí searched a house at Borlum Wood on the Green Road in Carlow town. During the course of the search they discovered seven kilos of cannabis herb in an upstairs room.

In a second room, 100 cannabis plants were discovered at various stages of growth. The drugs have a street value, subject to analysis, of €220,000.

Two men in their 50s and a man in his 30s, all Lithuanian nationals, were arrested at the scene and taken to Carlow Garda Station where they are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The scene has been preserved over night pending a full technical examination and the operation is on-going.
