THIS IS TED.
A few days ago, Ted’s owner Brittany Maher-Kirk arrived home to find one of those dreaded Sorry We Missed You cards on her doormat.
It seems that Royal Mail had tried to deliver a package to… Ted.
Maher-Kirk explained to BBC Essex that her mother had sent an advent calendar to the cat… and addressed it to, yes, the cat.
My mum had sent a parcel to the cat and addressed it to the cat, so the name on the card was Ted Maher-Kirk Lindsay — both my surname and then my boyfriend’s surname.
D’aw. Classic Mam move.
Only problem? Collecting the parcel was going to be prove difficuly on account of Ted not having a passport or driving licence.
As Maher-Kirk wrote on Facebook:
…the post office won’t give it me as the cat does not have ID.
Meaning that she was going to have to make the most awkward phone call of all time.
I’ve got to ring up the Post Office Head Office and explain that my mother has sent the cat an advent calendar, addressed to the cat, and he can’t pop in to pick it up himself or lend me his ID to do it for him.
So how did it go?
She told BBC Essex that she had a “long chat” with Royal Mail about the matter, who informed her that she’d just have to “go down and just have a chat with them and explain what’s happened”.
Fortunately, it looks like it all worked out.
