Several people have been injured after a lorry came off the road and landed on a train carrying 40 people.

SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE been injured after a cement mixing lorry fell onto a passenger train in Surrey, England.

The train was travelling from Guildford to London Waterloo, when the cement mixer fell as it passed through Oxshott shortly after 3pm.

A spokesman for South West Trains said:

The vehicle landed on some of the train’s coaches of an eight-coach unit. So far, there are no reports of fatalities though it is believed there are several people injured.

A British Transport Police spokesman said that four passengers suffered minor injuries, and that the driver is “more seriously injured”. A Surrey Fire and Rescue spokeswoman added that two people are trapped in the wreckage of the train, saying:

The lorry has hit a train and derailed it. Two people are medically trapped, meaning they need to be stabilised before they can be taken off.
